19th Iowa Uniform Guidelines

 Battle of Prairie Grove, Ark.

This is by far one of the easiest impressions to obtain. Everyone must have a quality forage cap. Made by a reputable source. While we strongly recommend and encourage everyone to have a quality frock coat, a fatuige coat of similar quality is a strong secondary  option. Uniformity is the goal. Keep that in mind!

 1. Headgear
a. Federal Forage Caps Must be a quality piece of headgear made by a reputable maker.
b. Civilian Slouch Hat- (of various colors) - must be a quality piece of headgear.
c. Hardee Hats are a last resort, but will be allowed in minimal numbers.

2. Coat
a. Federal Frock Coat- (Preferably a quality garment, made by a reputable maker.)
b. Federal Fatigue Blouse- (Sack Coat)- Must be a quality garment.
NCO’s must wear rank and have NCO stripes

3. Trousers
a. Federal Sky Blue Infantry Trousers. Must be a quality garment.
NCO’ must wear correct trouser tape.

4. Drawers
a. Federal Issue Drawers
b. Civilian Pattern Drawers

8. Federal Issue Canteen- With leather canteen strap, w/ jean wool cover, and correct style stopper.

9. Everyone should have a Federal Issue Knapsack with the follow contents:

10. Rifle: We’re pushing for everyone to have a three band Enfield Rifle with correct bayonet.
Springfields are a secondary option.
No Smoothbores.

Each man should have 80 Rounds, 40 in your cartridge box and another 40 correctly packaged in arsenal pack form. (Extra rounds will be stored in your knapsack).

11. Tentage. We are encouraging units, mess mates, and individuals to bring as many Sibley tents as possible.

A-Frames are a secondary option.

We encourage everyone to bring period stoves. Ample firewood will be available.
